Third Party Reviews
My preference is to provide unpaid reviews from people I know and trust. The reviews below are from friends of mine in the photography world. I may not agree with everything they say, but you may not agree with everything that I say! I believe that is what sharing information is all about.
- Jonathan Slack, a good friend of mine from the UK, reviews many new Leica cameras and lenses and always provides a trove of great photographs as examples. Leica EV1 Review - October 2025

- David Farkas and Josh Lehrer of the Leica Store Miami have a fantastic live show they have been producing for years now. Among many things, they cover new cameras as they are released. They are great folks, and here is the live episode about the Leica M EV1 they produced in December 2025, two months after the camera release.
Leica Branded Accessories
Accessories are fun to use, but sometimes they really make a difference. To be transparent, I am only putting links to Leica Camera accessories here. I am doing this to avoid linking to a variety of other companies that might profit from this link while missing others I'm not aware of. If I find an especially good third-party accessory that I love and use, I'll write about it separately. Clicking these links does not provide me any financial support; they are simply links!
- Leica M11 and M EV1 Batteries
- Protectors for the M11 and M EV1 (size 4). While not necessary, I put these on so I don't have to worry about scratching the back LCD while carrying the camera.
- Leather protector case Although there are a lot of third-party leather protection cases that slip on or screw on the bottom plate. I use several third-party cases on my Leica M film bodies and love them.
- Leica M11 and M EV1 Handgrip This is with the same diamond pattern on the covering of the M EV1. Leica makes other M11 handgrips with a different covering pattern. I have this and will review it at some time in the future. The bottom of the handgrip is ARCA-SWISS compatible, which is important to me!
- Leica M11 and M EV1 Thumb Support. I also have this and will review it in the future, especially for use with long and/or heavy lenses.
The Leica Society International
The EV1 reviews by both Jonathan Slack and "Chats" above are from members of the Leica Society International. At the time I write this, they are both board members and I am proud to have served with them.
LSI, as we affectionally call it, is an incredible society, open to all, from beginners to experienced photographers, and full of resources itself.
I dedicated an entire page to LSI, so much is my passion for this organization.
